Bernard Furic, managing director of Sobrena highlights the company's operations and its successful alliance agreement.

 40th LNG Carrier at SOBRENA

SOBRENA took its first steps in the LNG market when it got the contract for the refit docking of the French LNG Carrier DESCARTES in 1987, soon followed by DREYFUS's 126000 m3 LNGC EDOUARD LD for its 1988 Refit Docking, and again three years later in 1991.

In 1992, SOBRENA won the contract of the 2½  month refurbishement of SHELL's LNG PORT HARCOURT. Built as NESTOR by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in 1977, the vessel received its first commercial cargo after the Brest refurbishement. The same year, the SHELL managed METHANE PRINCESS was also refurbished at SOBRENA.

Year after year, SOBRENA docked more and more LNG tankers from Customers that repeated their confidence : SHELL, DREYFUS, SNTM HYPROC...

In 1999, SOBRENA was selected by SHELL for the refurbishement of LNG LAGOS, the former GASTOR, built in 1976.

The highlights of Year 2000, were the signature of the ALLIANCE Agreement with SHELL and the docking by SOBRENA of its 20th LNG Carrier, HYPROC's MOURAD DIDOUCHE.

Since then another bunch of LNGs docked with us and this year SOBRENA had the pleasure to accomodate EDOUARD LD for the 7th time, almost immediately followed by MISC'S TENAGA SATU in Dock n°2.

Before the end of May 2005, SOBRENA will welcome its 40th methane carrier, LNGC MOURAD DIDOUCHE.

SOBRENA, the major French Shiprepair Yard, was establised in 1987 after the collapse of the former ARNO Group. SOBRENA is owned by Groupe MEUNIER, a major Industrial Maintenance Company as well as third World Leader for the production of Generating Sets.

The Lng tanker, EDOUARD LD and the shuttle tanker,GERRITA :                           70 days and 63 days of works

EDOUARD LD, managed by the French Company, Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, arrived at Sobrena on 13th February 2005 for 70 days. Sobrena has to complete the upgrading of cargo containment and general repais. This is the 7th time that EDOUARD LD dock at Sobrena.

GERRITA, a shuttle tanker, managed by Ugland Marine Services in Norway arrived in dry-dock n°3 on 6th March 2005 for 63 days. The remain repair will be : intermediate shaft, renewal. Other general repairs are carried out.

• DIEPPE, the ferry managed by Compagnie Maritime de l'Ouest, left Brest on 28th January 2005 after 30 days of general repairs.
• BRETAGNE, a ferry from the French company BRITTANY FERRIES, left Sobrena on 29th January 2005 after 14 days of general repairs (fire security system, painting ...).
• LA HEVE, hoper, managed by Dragages Ports left Brest on 28yh February 2005.
• NAVION NORVEGIA, a shuttle tanker managed by the Norwegian company, KNUTSEN SHIPPING, arrived on 09th January 2005 in Brest. It's succeed in dry-dock n°3 to her sister ship, NAVION EUROPA to complete general repairs for 30 days. NAVION NORVEGIA left on 9th February 2005.
• The two cable-layers, CS SOVEREIGN and ATLANTIC GUARDIAN managed by GLOBAL MARINE SYSTEM, an english company, arrived in berth n°4 on 25th January for the first one and on 27th January for the second one. Sobrena had to effect the transfer of the ROV 's gantry support from ATLANTIC GUARDIAN to CS SOVERIEGN. CS SOVEREIGN had to be equipped by a platform to receive sub-marines works materials. They left on the beginning of February 2005.
• OSCILLA, managed by SHELL, arrived at Sobrena on 24 February 2005 for general repairs and left on 10th March 2005.
• MN COLIBRI, arrived on 15th february 2005 at berth n°4 for general repairs and left on 29th March 2005.
  

Other projects

ABEILLE FLANDRE arrived on 18 April 2005 at Sobrena for general repairs. TENAGA SATU will arrive on 2nd May 2005.
